What We Do

to improve the lives of the children of Njatha-ini

Evangelise

At Grace Community Education Centre, our main goal is to reach the children of Njathaini through Christ for the transformation of life. As an organization, we have introduced programs that can help us achieve this. Some of the programs include: Daily devotions and chapel are a key integral part of the children’s regular school program. The staff members and the children take part in prayer and fasting every term for three days through which we can encourage the children to spend more time with God.

Matthew 19:13-14 says, “Then some children were brought to Him so that He might lay His hands on them and pray; and the disciples rebuked them. But Jesus said, “Let the children alone, and do not hinder them from coming to Me; for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”

Educate

We offer free quality formal education to the children of Najthaini, complimenting the over-burdened single public school in the area. We believe that equipping the children with education will enable them to get exposed to possibilities that can in turn help improve the quality of their life in the future.
The curriculum we use at Grace Community Education Centre is in line with the requirements given by the Kenya Ministry of Education. We currently implement the 8.4.4 system, for those in STD 5 through to STD 8 and CBC for PP1 through to grade 4. All our teaching staff is professionals registered and licensed by the Teachers Service Commission. We have had four classes successfully sit for the Kenya National Certificate of Primary Education where there was an exemplary performance with all of the children progressing to high school.

Proverbs 16:16 says that having wisdom and understanding is better than having silver or gold. Nice and expensive items can be enjoyable, but there are very few things in life that can never be taken away, will never go out of style, and that truly makes you a better person. Education is one of those things.

Feed

We provide the children with nutritious meals twice a day. The meals are freshly prepared in our kitchen every day by the school cook. At 10 AM, the children have porridge or tea with a snack. At lunch hour, depending on what is on the menu, the children have a plate of rice, ugali(cornmeal), githeri( a Kenyan traditional meal of maize and legumes), or chapati served with vegetables and proteins. For many of the children, these are the only meals they have in a day because of the poverty levels at their homes. The feeding program has helped alleviate malnutrition, improve their overall performance and general health.

John 6:35 says, “Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.”
